Whenever we think about plumbing issues, we tend to think about the issues we can experience with our senses. Hearing dripping pipes or running toilets, seeing dripping taps and leaky pipes, or smelling sewer gas under the sink.

However, not every single plumbing issue is going to be one that you know about. There are a lot of subtle and silent signs of serious plumbing issues that can cause a lot of problems for you if you don’t know they are there.

Here are some of these extra signs that you need to look for, and if you can catch them you can focus on getting your plumbing fixed quickly before they become serious problems!

Discolored Pipes

Instead of having leaky or rattling pipes, the rest of your pipes might instead be discolored and occasionally rusted over. If you notice that the pipes seem discolored, that can be a sign that there is some moisture present. Not only can this be caused by dripping drain lines, but it can also be a leak in the supply line. And the plumbing supply lines are also pressurized, so if those start to become problems, then a big mess is on the horizon!

Don’t be afraid to make some serious changes and repairs if you notice that your pipes are discolored and look gross, especially around the areas where two pipes connect to one another. Simply replacing the discolored pipes and then fixing the leaks so that the extra moisture doesn’t come out is a good way to handle this problem.

Weak Water Flow and Slow Drains

If you notice that you have a slow stream of water or some low water pressure, then the water isn’t going to be distributed to the faucets in your house evenly. If only one sink has a weak water flow, then you can easily get the problem fixed.

However, if you find that there is low water pressure in all areas of your home, then you might have a much bigger problem. These can mean problems with your water main, your hot water heater, or even a leak in your supply line. So make sure that you take action and get help whenever you find problems with your water flow.

But if the issue isn’t that you have too little water going into your drain, then the issue might wind up being that you have too much! Slow draining can be a serious problem for people, and it can also be a major red flag that you have some issues with your plumbing.

However, a bit of work can be done to help you figure out what is causing the problem in your drain. It could be something as simple as having your drain clogged, or it can be as complicated as needing sewer line repairs because something deeper is causing problems.

Bubbling Paint On The Walls and Ceiling

If you notice that the paint on your walls and ceiling, especially the paint near your kitchen and your bathroom, is starting to bubble and peel off, then it becomes a serious problem. This often happens because of a leak in the roof or the plumbing system.

If you find that your paint is bubbling or you have experienced brown spots on your walls, then you need to figure out what’s wrong. Just because there is a plumbing leak that you can’t see doesn’t mean that it isn’t going to cause a lot of problems for you.

Sudden Green Patches In the Yard

If you have found that one section of your yard is greener than the rest despite you not doing any extra yard work to it, then you might have sewer issues. Leaking sewer lines can either nourish the rest of the plants in your yard or they can cause sunken areas in the yard as the fluids interact with the dirt and compact.

If you don’t want your sewer lines to continue to be damaged by these sewer issues, you might find that you need to call on a plumber to help you.

Make Sure You Are Observant

Don’t be afraid to be observant and look for these issues around your house and yard. It won’t take too long to look for them and then you can fix the serious plumbing issues before they cost you a lot of time and money to fix. Because much like many other things, you don’t want to sit on these and let the problems get out of control.
