Thus to avoid such situations do not apply anything like wax or any other acid products to your floor. If you are confused about the cleaning supplies then have a look below.

  •         Some old cloth pieces
  •         Sponge
  •         Buckets
  •         Mop, broom, and vacuum.

  •         Homemade cleaner (it must include any waxing products or acid products)
  •         Baking soda
  •         Rubbing alcohol( optional )

  1. Broom and mop

This the most common step which you might be doing often everyday for normal cleaning purposes. The purposes to do brooming and mopping is to remove loose dirt available on the surface of floor, if you do not vacuum those dirt in a proper manner then you grime is going to swish all over the floor, which will make your work worthless, thus be careful while you are performing brooming and mopping before you go ahead for tile cleaning. Moreover removing loose dirt will show the proportion of tough stains and other dirt stuck in your floor.  

  1. Tackle tough stains

You would see many types of stains stuck on your floor. They might have been there because of food spills, lipstick, crayons, paint, scuffs, and many more. To remove those stains and dirt one have to rely on tools like sponge, old cloth pieces, paste of baking soda, etc.

Sponge: Put some paint thinner or vinyl on your sponge, you can even use rubbing alcohol if you have it, after that start rubbing the stains occurred due to things like lipstick, paint, crayons, etc.

Scuff: Removing scuffs is one of the most difficult tasks to do, thus for that purpose buy a chemical from the chemist, make sure that it won’t contain wax in it, after that take a clean old cloth put some chemical on it and then rub out the scuffs.

Paste of baking soda: To make the paste of baking soda add water in baking soda in a certain amount to create paste, do not add excess water. This paste will help you in removing the stains produced due to food spills and they get dried up there, such stains can be easily removed with the use of baking soda.

As greasy stains still exist there, thus to remove those stains prepare a rinsing solution by mixing homemade cleaner with some warm water. Start rinsing your floor after you are done with warm water, now take some cold water in another bucket and start mopping your floor; make sure that your mop must not contain impurities otherwise it will leave soil residue behind. To avoid such a situation, all you need to do is squeeze your mop properly whenever dipping again and again in a rinsing solution or in a cold water bucket.

If mistakenly you have used wax while cleaning your floor, obviously it will appear dull. You don’t have to worry a lot, just take solution of household ammonia and water, apply the solution on the floor with the help of mop and let it sit for at least 5 – min after that rinse it out, keep continuing the process unless and until you achieve a shiny look of your floor again. Try not to use wax while cleaning vinyl tile floors.

How to clean ceramic and natural tile floors?

Ceramic tiles and natural tiles are much more durable than vinyl tiles. Do you know why? The one and only reason behind is, if you clean floors made of them regularly then you can easily get rid of any kind of stains, the only thing which affects the cleanliness of such tiles are grouts. Grouts are nothing but the dirt collected in the gap between the tiles. You can find a mixture of every type of dirt over there which is very hazardous to one’s health and must be cleaned weekly; otherwise you may fall ill because of the direct contact with such grouts.

  •         Stiff – bristled brush
  •         Buckets
  •         Mop, broom, and vacuum

Supplies

  •         For natural tile floors: Avoid acidic washing and rinsing agents, instead use alkaline – based washing and rinsing agents.
  •         For ceramic tile floors: You can use every type of commercial cleaners or dishwashing liquid.
  •         For both: hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, or oxygen based bleach powder.

  1. Get rid of loose water

This the most common step which you might be doing often everyday for normal cleaning purposes.   1. Cleaning grout

As we discussed earlier grout is nothing but a dirt collected in the gap between the tiles, if that space is not properly sealed by the grout then it will attract the dirt and soil to get collected over there, these kind of dirt didn’t get rid of daily moping, thus a proper cleansing agent is required at such conditions. All you need to do is just apply cleanser and scrub the grout lines with stiff bristled brush.

Baking soda and water paste: Create a paste by mixing baking soda and water, apply it on grouts then scrub away the dirt and soil with help of brush.

Hydrogen peroxide: you cannot pour this chemical in excess as it is expensive and very concentrated that it can harm your body, thus use an eyedropper to apply this chemical in grouts, apply it and leave it for about 10 – 15 minutes. At last scrub it out.

Oxygen – based bleach: Take a mug or cup and pour 1-3 spoons of oxygen – based bleach powder and add some water to create paste, apply paste and leave it for 10-15 minutes. At last scrub it out.

  1. Rinse the floor

Take any of the rinsing solutions, dip the mop in the bucket and rinse the whole floor in a proper manner so that every type of dirt, stains and grouts gets cleaned up. Make sure to squeeze the mop properly after dipping to avoid soil residue.

We all mop and broom our floor daily but that is not enough to achieve proper cleaning, thus follow the cleaning steps on a weekly basis.
